Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Matthew ("the Service") at matthew.finance, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use Matthew.

2. Description of Service

Matthew is a cloud-based accounting application designed primarily for churches, ministries, and micro to small businesses. The Service enables users to track income, expenses, funds, and financial records within an organisation.

Matthew reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age to use Matthew. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.

If you are using Matthew on behalf of an organisation (such as a church or business), you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

4. User Accounts

To access the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and promptly update your account information
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account at support@matthew.finance

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we believe, in our sole discretion, pose a risk to the Service or other users.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Matthew only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:

  • Use the Service to engage in any unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive activity
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its systems
  • Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm another person
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce any part of the Service without written permission
  • Use the Service in any way that could disable, overburden, or impair its proper operation
  • Misrepresent your identity or affiliation with any organisation

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of all financial data, records, and content you input into Matthew ("Your Data"). By using the Service, you grant Matthew a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and display Your Data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

You are solely responsible for the accuracy, legality, and completeness of Your Data. Matthew does not verify or validate the financial data you enter. You should maintain independent backups of any critical financial records.

7. Intellectual Property

The Matthew name, logo, application design, software, and all related materials are the intellectual property of Matthew and its owners. These Terms do not grant you any right, title, or interest in the Service, its underlying software, or any Matthew intellectual property.

You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit any part of the Service without our express prior written consent.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Matthew is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

Matthew is an accounting tool designed to assist with record-keeping. It does not constitute financial, accounting, legal, or tax advice. You should consult a qualified professional for advice specific to your organisation's situation.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Matthew and its owners, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 100 if you have not made any payments.

10. Termination

You may stop using Matthew and close your account at any time by contacting us at support@matthew.finance. We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these Terms.

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease. You may request an export of Your Data within 30 days of termination. After this period, we may delete Your Data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Philippines.

If you are a user located in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms limits your rights under applicable consumer protection legislation in your jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or a prominent notice within the application at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
